It is very difficult to wipe the smug smile off my face since I have installed this battery. The bull is lighter by 5 kgs. I feel more confident pressing self start every time and finally I don’t need even a slight throttling during self start to get my Bullet going forward. The feeling is just incredible. Even when I look at the unit I know it is going to keep my battery case in its pristine condition. It is too early to comment on the 5 times longer battery life claim, however if it even gives 10 years of good life I would say it would be investment totally worth its cost.

Pros or advantages of Deltran LiFePO4 battery

Very small, very light, very powerful. Fresh out of the box after installing I switched off the engine and then self started ten times and it started the bull every time. It works in extremely cold climate and for temperatures lower than 0°C you just need to switch on the headlight and then self start and the battery will work without fail. Due to its small size you can use the rest of the battery case for storing other items (like Boyer Bransen powerbox).

No lead or acid makes it extremely safe and portable. It also means it is environmentally friendly. Furthermore no acid means this battery won’t eat away your battery belts, your battery case and your chassis. Does not need maintenance and can stay on shelf for almost a year before completely discharging. The life of this battery is said to be around 7-10 years. You can place it in any direction (also upside down). Even the terminals are four sided and placed on four sides meaning extreme flexibility with wiring.

Cons or disadvantages of Deltran LiFePO4 battery

Very costly. In fact when I told the price to one of the mechanics he said you could have easily added a few thousand and bought a second hand motorcycle. Not easily available. In case of defects, replacements are not easily possible. Foam fitters not made for Bullet. The  Caps for the unused terminals a bit loose.

Further improvements required in Deltran LiFePO4 battery

There is a huge market for Lifepo4 battery. The manufacturer should lower the cost and sell these batteries in India. The quantity in sales will justify the low cost. There should be dealers available in India too to take up defective pieces. The unused terminal caps can be made a bit snug so that they don’t automatically fall off due to vibrations.

Usage tips for Deltran LiFePO4 battery

These batteries work directly out of the box. No need to put in any acid or water or anything ever. Also they can be fitted in any position. So place the battery in your desired position (taking care they are not touching any metal frame). Fix the negative and the positive wire to the battery terminal and you are good to go. Do remember however that you fix the battery wires to the correct terminals (Black to negative and Red to positive) or the battery will short circuit. Also after fixing the wires remember to cover the extra battery terminal with the terminal caps. Exposed terminals can touch metal and short circuit. Place the belt over your battery and tighten the battery with foams provided so it fits snugly.
